I’ve been working with volunteers in ministry my entire career—in local churches and with Orange. Now, I’m excited to announce a brand, stinkin’, new online course on how to lead volunteers better called . . . drumroll . . . Leading Volunteers Better!

See, I love volunteers. In fact, I probably love volunteers so much because I started as a volunteer as a small group leader for kindergarten and first grade boys in the spring of 2001. Here I am, years later, still fired up and passionate about it. As I have had the opportunity to travel around the globe, talking with leaders from all different backgrounds, I’ve gotten a lot of the same questions. Questions like:

How do I get more volunteers?
What do I do if a volunteer is in the wrong place?
How do I help volunteers show up each week?

It was time to put pen to paper on some of those questions, and that’s what I’ve been working on. Not long ago we had a staff member at a local church go through some of the coaching that Sue Miller and I have been working on where we address these issues head on—the response was phenomenal to the course—but I loved this particular thing the leader said to me. He said:

“I love the vision and big-picture stuff that we get at conferences, and read in books. But why I love something like this course is because it gets directly down to the practical aspect of the matter. Vision is great, but how can I communicate with the volunteer who has just committed to serve, or even has difficulty showing up each week? I just wanted to get on their level, and this helped me do that.”

This course, Leading Volunteers Better, will help you do just that.

The purpose of this course is to equip you with the right tools to help lead volunteers in a better direction. Of course, we will just scratch the surface with some of our content, but we hope it will turn into better dialogue, discussion, and forward thinking for your entire team—not just you. The course launches on NOVEMBER 8, 2018, and I’d love for you to check it out!
