We had an incredible year, with close to 8,000 of our closest friends from all 50 states and around the world at OC16 this year. And guess what? We’re doing it again! Make plans now to join us for OC17 in Atlanta, April 26-28. In fact, you can save a few bucks by registering for $239 through July 14th. . . . That’s TODAY!
Our annual gathering of family ministry teams will discuss . . . well, it’s a secret for now. But rest assured, it’s going to be great! We can’t wait to share it with you this fall!
And for those of you who are looking for a great way to treat your team, host a retreat or make the most out of your OC experience, here’s some free advice from our friend, Mike Ford.
“Our team loves going to The Orange Conference; it is a great experience of learning and growing together. But the way I look at it, we are not just going to The Orange Conference, we are creating an Orange retreat. We arrive a day early to make sure we are rested and ready for what we will learn. And every meal during the week becomes an opportunity to team build. At the end of the last session on Friday, our retreat really takes off. We spend the next day seeing historic sights, hiking, shopping, and eating GREAT food. On Sunday, we visit another church, have a tour and discover how they implement ministry in their area before we fly home to the Pacific Northwest.
“Even though it’s challenging to plan for the whole team to be gone at the same time, it gives individuals opportunities to step up and lead while we are away. In fact, I have found that those extra couple of days has added a huge benefit to our team. Team ministry is about getting to know each other’s journey, caring for each person and honestly supporting each other through the ups and downs of life. Let’s face it, every ministry team has seasons that are more challenging than others, and those times of fun and laughter help sustain a hard-working team. The investment that it takes to create a retreat for your team, not just a conference, is so well worth it. I have seen the people that I work with transform into a unified team that is impacting lives.”
