- BEGIN MAKING THE BIG ASK and gathering the main players for your event. Surround yourself with trustworthy people who can lead different areas. Check out the Walk This Way Director’s Guide for a full list of volunteer job titles and descriptions (Pages 9 and 10).
Key Leadership Roles:
- Large Group Director
- Small Group Director
- Tracks/Rotations Director
- Preschool VBS Director
These are the folks that you’ll be meeting with the most over the next few months. You’ll work together to identify specific people to fill the roles listed in the WTW Director’s Guide.
Word to the Wise: Maybe in the past you have attempted to lead all these areas yourself. If you are anything like me, it’s hard to step back and let someone else take the lead. But, trust me, it’s so much better to share! Focus your efforts on the big picture and see the incredible ways God works through everyone on your team.
- SEND OUT A “SAVE THE DATE” for your VBS to pique interest and allow families to get your event on their summer calendar. This can be in the form of a postcard (I love Vistaprint and always keep an eye out for a great sale) or use social media. And remember to take advantage of the church bulletin and newsletter to help get the word out!
- KEEP GOD AT THE CENTER of all your efforts. Things are about to get real, so remember to keep communication lines open!
