By the title, of course, we mean appreciating volunteers creatively, not appreciating only the creative volunteers … In any case, in the newly-posted Orange Leaders curriculum for February, we’re talking about ways to thank your volunteers and make them feel extra special. We’ve gotten ideas from Orange Leaders all over the country, including this suggestion from Jenn Day at Cross Timbers Community Church in Argyle, Texas:
Last Christmas we held an Ugly Sweater Christmas party for volunteers. It was catered and we hired a cover band. Our director did a little vision-casting and then recognized some unique volunteers—oldest, youngest, most tenured. We danced and laughed and had a great time. This year our theme is a bit different but last year was so successful, our folks can’t wait for December.
Do you have ideas of your own for showing your volunteers how much they mean to you and your ministry? Share them on the Orange Leaders discussion board or in the comments below.
(And yes, January and February Orange Leaders curriculums are now posted! January’s topic is personal evaluation, and February’s is volunteer appreciation.)
