Giving everything your best attracts volunteers! Excellence is a people magnet.
Over the years I have found that the areas of ministry that recruit and retain the largest percentage of volunteers are those that seem to have the highest standard of excellence. It seems as though people are attracted to ministries that accept no less than the best. These are the ministries where the ministry leaders’ motto is “God has given us His best, so why would we give Him anything less?” I’ve seen it time and time again that those ministries often don’t even have to ask for volunteers. People seem to flock to them saying, “Hey, I have this expertise, where can you use me?” Trying to figure out where people will fit in your ministry is a good problem to have!
What’s your ministry standard? You shouldn’t have to say it; people should sense it. If you’re not being criticized for being too particular or too over-the-top, it may be time to evaluate. Are you just getting by? Details overlooked? It may be time to recharge and refuel. If it was good for Jesus, it must be good for us, too!
